FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz In Newmarket In keeping with the MTOA commitment to promote Ontario's Transportation Officers to the public, we are pleased to announce MTO York Region completed its latest commercial motor vehicle truck blitz with our partner in road safety the, York Regional Police. Officers from the York Region District MTO Enforcement office with our partner in road safety inspected a total of 100 commercial motor vehicles and removed 18 of these vehicles from the road, as a result of various mechanical defects and safety violations. These numbers indicate that 20 per cent of the vehicles inspected were unsafe. In addition, 1 set of plates were seized and 10 Provincial Offence Notices were issued for various commercial motor vehicle violations under the provisions of the Highway Traffic Act, including Dangerous Goods charges, defective brakes, insecure loads, failing to produce inspection reports and various other documentation and equipment violations.
